Information technology consultant Coastal Cloud Inc. has opened a Louisville office, which is led by former Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development Secretary Erik Dunnigan.Coastal Cloud, based in Florida, offers cloud-based software services for a number of industries, including education, communications, economic development and real estate. The Louisville office serves as its Midwest headquarters and eventually will employ about 30 workers, officials said at a news conference this morning.
The expansion allows the company to serve clients in more metropolitan areas, including Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Lexington, Pittsburgh and Nashville, according to a news release.
"It's a lot of fun for me to switch sides here and be the job creator," said Dunnigan, who often was involved in job announcements when he worked in state government.
Tim Hale, managing partner and co-founder at Coastal Cloud, said the jobs being created will be the type of good, high-level tech positions that one might expect to find in either New York or San Francisco. The company is hiring consultants, business analysts, project managers and solutions architects now, according to its website.
Coastal Cloud is leasing 1,500 square feet of office space at 201 E. Jefferson St. from the University of Louisville Foundation, which owns and operates that building. Its operation already is up and running, Dunnigan said.
